AFT -OKLAHOMA SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship is sponsored by the AFT-Oklahoma, Local #8034, as means of assisting deserving and able graduating students who want to continue schooling at the college, junior college, business school or vocational level.

METHOD OF SELECTING THE SCHOLARSHIP WINNER
The recipient of the award will be selected by the Scholarship Committee according to the following criteria:
1. Scholastic Record
2. Character and Personal Qualifications
3. Statement of Intent and Application
4. Financial Need
STATEMENT OF INTENT
The applicant will be required to submit on the application a statement of intent regarding the program of study, career goal, and ambitions, together with the name and location of the college, junior college, business school, or vocational school he or she plans to attend.

$500.00
DEADLINE
The deadline for scholarship applications is May 25, 2014.
GENERAL INFORMATION
1. The scholarship Committee will review all applications and the winner will be announced. If the winner does not make use of the award and attend college within one year, alternates will move up and be eligible for the award.
2. The Scholarship will be awarded to the recipient upon proof of enrollment.

1. Student must have one parent/guardian who has been a member in good standing of the AFT/OFT for one year or the parent/guardian must be a member of a new Local established within the current school year.
2. Student must be a high school senior.
3. Student must be attending a public school.
4. Student must give written permission allowing the committee the right to review student transcripts.

PART II
The Scholarship Committee requests that the applicant submit three (3) letters of recommendation. It is desirable this portion of the application represent the views and opinions of two of the applicant’s teachers. List any special factors you feel should be taken into account in considering this applicant for the scholarship. You may want to include such things as academic achievements, aptitudes, study habits, participation in school activities and other information you feel may help the committee in its selection.
One of these letters should come from a school administrator, the applicant’s school counselor or from a community leader from such areas as business or religion.
PART III
The applicant is to submit a copy of his/her high school transcript with this application.
